ESAFF Uganda has four program areas that are linked to one vision

Research and policy engagement

Since there is a need to strengthen small scale farmers engagement in policy processes, ESAFF Uganda creates regular fora and platforms for small scale farmers to stimulate collective reflection, renewal, strategising and action on socio-economic and political issues of interest and relevant to Uganda’s governance and development. ESAFF Uganda also engages in fundamental studies that are useful in policy engagement.

Economic sustainability

There is need for small scale farmer communities to exploit local capital opportunities that can sustain local human and natural resources, while minimizing costs and yielding adequate returns to those investments. ESAFF Uganda acknowledges the need for small scale farmers to exploit local opportunities that would bring economic development and also influence government policies at all levels to reduce exploitation of small scale farmers and increase incomes for improved livelihood.


Environmental sustainability

It’s of great importance that a farmers’ organization works towards ensuring environmental sustainability. Many small scale farmers are losing property including crops, animals and houses as a result of degraded environment and climate change hence living undesirable lives. Under this component ESAFF Uganda focuses on empowering small scale farmers to protect the environment with an objective of climate change adaptation and resilience.

Institutional development
The strength of ESAFF Uganda depends on the strength of its members from the grass root to the national and the regional level. Efforts have always been directed towards strengthening small scale farmers to ensure a favourable environment for them to operate. Institutional development is a very important aspect in the growth and development of ESAFF Uganda. Under this ESAFF Uganda mobilizies and strengthens of its membership from sub-county to district and national levels, by developing governance, management and staff capacities to make the smooth running of the organization possible with the existing institutional policies and systems.
